The WingX product has, to a significant extent, been molded by the feedback from our growing WingX user-base. When Jeppesen launched a mobile product, they chose us and our WingX technology. Our alliance partnership with Jeppesen is a tremendous endorsement of our technology, our products, and of your constructive feedback. WingX 2.6.1.x BetaWe recently released our latest WingX Beta. In addition to a number of improvements, WingX now has improved GPS support including support for the new AT&T Blackjack II and other devices with internal GPS receivers. Also now available are video podcasts - currently AirSafe and The Finer Points, much-improved NOTAM readability, and significantly faster Weather Text operations, and one really cool new feature - more about that later... To upgrade to the Beta, use Tools, WingX, Upgrade. Please be aware...We recently made some changes to our server and to our databases. We strongly advise you to upgrade to either WingX 2.6.0.4 (or the latest Beta) to ensure continued reliable service. Use Tools, WingX, Upgrade. You will need to download a new set of databases, but we just released a new set of databases for this Thursday's effective date, so now would be a great time to upgrade your device to WingX 2.6. WingX ForumA few newsletters ago, we asked WingX users if they would like to have a WingX forum. We received a tremendous number of positive responses. We have now our forum up and running and strongly encourage you to make full use of the forum. Click here to view our WingX Forum. I changed phones. How do I transfer WingX to the new phone?Firstly, install WingX 2.6 on your new phone. You can either download and run the WingX install program on your desktop, or simply point your phone's Internet Explorer to "mobile.hiltonsoftware.com" to download and install WingX directly onto your phone. Remember, always install WingX to your device memory and not on the storage card. After moving the database location to the storage card, WingX only uses about 1MB of internal device memory. Secondly, and before running WingX on your new device, if you would like to transfer your aircraft, waypoints, routes, etc from your old device to your new device, you can either backup the old device and restore to the new device using WingX Agent, or you can manually drag-and-drop the XML files in the "\Program Files\HiltonSoftware\WingX" to your desktop and then drag-and-drop these XML to the same directory on your new device. Thirdly, run WingX and send us your new WingX ID so that we can generate a new key. To send us your WingX ID, go to the Help, Register page and either email your WingX ID to us or use the Menu, Send option to send it electronically - then send a quick email saying that you would like to change devices and that you have sent your WingX ID. We'll send you a key via email that you can enter on the Register page. Alternatively, use the Register Page's Get Key option to download the key electronically. Lastly, after entering your key, WingX will give you the option to move the databases to a storage card (if you have one installed) and to download the databases. At the very least download the Airport Database since many WingX functions depend on a current Airport Database. Currency Check
Stay CurrentPlease be sure to stay current with your subscription. $99.95 for an entire year of DUATS weather briefings and flight plans, real-time TFRs, A/FD information, NACO charts, METARs, TAFs, animated weather is a steal. We have had a few users call us urgently to renew their subscription when they found out that they suddenly couldn't file a flight plan or get the latest animated RADAR. Please don't be caught on the ramp without WingX weather and DUATS. T-Mobile releases Windows Mobile upgradesThe T-Mobile Wing was unfortunately crippled somewhat by what seems like not striking a good balance between marketing and engineering. Our best guess suggests that marketing wanted so much 'stuff' running on the phone that by the time the Operating System had finished booting up, only about 8 MB out of the original 64MB was available. Ouch. T-Mobile have just released Operating System upgrades for some of their phone and we are told (but have not yet verified) that the upgrades directly addressed the memory issue. Take a look here and also make use of our new forum to post your experiences with this upgrade or any other hardware or software upgrades: http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade A Word from the CEO
A lot has been happening here recently. Of course, the big news is our alliance partnership agreement with Jeppesen. When I started my flying many years ago, I bought the Jeppesen Private Pilot Manual, then I bought the Jeppesen Instrument/Commercial Manual, then their instrument chart subscription, FARs, FARs Explained, etc. Later, when Jeppesen upgraded their manuals and released their color Guided Flight Discovery manuals, I bought an entirely new set of manuals. I firmly believe that presenting information in a clear and easily understandable way is crucial. I believe that Jeppesen do a fantastic job of this in the GFD training material as well as on their legendary instrument charts. Working with Jeppesen to develop Jeppesen Mobile has allowed us to further our vision of aviation mobility - it's getting exciting! GPS will be a standard feature on phones soon. Already GPS receivers have found their way onto the Blackjack II, the AT&T Tilt, and others. Our current Beta ensures that WingX works just fine with these latest devices as well as with practically all Bluetooth GPS receivers. There is one new feature that we've added of which I am particularly proud and it is something that your G1000 certainly cannot do - it is called the "Dude, where's my car?" feature. It'll be available shortly in WingX 2.6.1.1 Beta - watch for it - you don't need to be the wandering aimlessly around Oshkosh looking for your car (or tent) in a few weeks' time. Thanks
again for your support.
